It's All Happening

Today was the first day you could really feel it.  Anticipation has been building for a month now.  We've been talking about it.  Thinking about it.  Worrying about it.  Obsessing over it.  And now it is almost here.

At first glance, it isn't obvious.  It is still hot.  As hot as it has been since June.  It is still so humid that the evolutionary bright idea known as sweating doesn't do a bit of good.  The dominant sound around campus is still construction from the three major projects that have disrupted classes and traffic all summer and now into the fall semester.  There isn't any specific smell or taste either.

No.  It is some kind of sixth sense.  But once you notice it, it is positively overwhelming.  It is a giddiness, a euphoria.  It is a sparkle in eye of every person you meet on the concourse.  It is the slightly upturned corners of everyone's mouths, who don't even realize that they're smiling.  It is a glow that makes all of the girls even prettier.  It is the collective knowledge that in two days we will all congregate in common cause.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is football season.

Shiny

Yesterday afternoon I was invited to the official unveiling of the new Jordan-Hare Stadium HD Video board. It looks pretty sweet, as you can see. I've posted several more pics on Facebook (you don't need an account to see them), so be sure to check them out.

We also got a sneak peek at the new video that will play immediately prior to the team taking the field on gamedays. I really like it, although it had a different feel than the ones they've used the last couple of years.

**Spoiler Warning**

The song is "Ladies and Gentlemen" by Saliva, and it has more of a "pump you up" vibe than more dramatic and epic feeling of previous vids. The theme of the video was centered on the 50th anniversary of Auburn's 1957 national championship and featured a lot of intercutting between then and now footage.

**End Spoilers**

I really do love having a job that affords me these kinds of opportunities . . .
